Create New Blog EntryVeteran's Day has of course passed. Still, I think this movie is well worth watching at any time. To quote IMDB: "An epic historical drama spanning the five years of the First World War, as seen through the eyes of two ordinary young soldiers." Without spoiling it for you, all I can say is that if the movie's depiction, story line is anywhere near being accurate, it must have been a slice of hell. Heartbreaking, really. Links below:

A video has gone viral (I posted it here on GBT, hope Nick approves it) {Apparently he didn't, but you can see it through a link in one of the comments} that is the result of a gay teen from Indiana, Jordan Steffy, getting fed up with being bullied since he came out. Apparently, the bully he snapped on had posted a "I hate gays" post with Jordan's picture on it. Jordan called him out on it in school, the bully called Jordan a faggot, and Jordan had had enough. He doesn't back down, swings at the bully and connects with an apparently powerful roundhouse slap that almost puts the bully in the floor. The bully again calls Jordan a faggot, and Jordan goes after him. It's funny as hell how the bully tries to run from Jordan. The video was posted a lot of places and has Jordan asking the bully "what's up, bitch?" at the end. That version is posted in Jordan's Twitter. You will notice something very sad here. When Jordan really starts pounding the bully, the teacher steps in. Finally. It was ok for the bully to totally disrespect Jordan and call him "faggot", but when Jordan calls him out and finally snaps, it's isn't ok. Why didn't the teacher stop it before it escalated?
Both boys got suspended, and Jordan's mom pulled him out of school because of how poorly the situation was handled.

C'est certainement un défi que je lance, a vous comme a moi même; j'adore écrire en anglais, mais le ferais plus que volontiers en français car la langue de Molière n'est que trop absente des débats qui ont cours ici.
