The Photography of Peter Hujar (1934-87). He lived in NY and explored with his camera the lively subculture of East Village in the late '60s - '80s. His raw, direct B&W photographs include self-portraits, his gay friends, clowns and cross-dressers. His pictures have been described as 'stripped of excess'. He died of Aids.
This album includes self-portraits, shots of Andy Warhol and Iggy Pop among others. A recent film has been released, 'Peter Hujar's Day', starring Ben Wishaw and Rebecca Hall.
