Forgotten Moments
The Photography of Ian David Baker (b1945). The British artist, graphic designer and photographer is maybe best known for his capture of the London street scene in the 1980's. He says the development of his work has been 'accidental and unplanned'. In 2017 his photographs were featured in the exhibition, 'Love Happens Here', which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Of his nude studies, he said, '..but I liked to keep the intimacy, rather than them look like a studio shot.'
I find the following comment very interesting. Talking of his photographic excursions of the '80's he said, 'It was easier to photograph people in the street then. There's this kind of paranoia now -- even though people take photos of themselves to be stuck all over the internet.'
