The Photography of Mel Roberts (1923-2007). After serving as a cameraman in WW2, Mel Roberts moved to the sunshine and gay scene of California. He was quite open about his sexuality even though homosexual acts were illegal at the time. He was frequently visited by the police because of the nature of his photography, but he went on to be a seminal contributor to gay magazines and published two books, 'California Boys' and 'The Wild Ones'.
