...per the NPR web site. Susan Stamberg (daughter-in-law of "Mama") has been a presenter on NPR for years. They usually broadcast her talking about this recipe around this time of the year. With all the serious problems in the world just now, thought something a bit lighter might be appropriate.
As an aside, I've made this stuff before, and it's a little unusual, but really quite good. Give it a try.
Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish
The relish has a tangy taste that cuts through and perks up the turkey and gravy. It's also good on next-day turkey sandwiches, and with roast beef.
2 cups whole raw cranberries, washed
The Recipe's Origins
As Susan Stamberg has noted, her mother-in-law got the recipe from a 1959 New York Times clipping of Craig Claiborne's recipe for cranberry relish. In 1993, Claiborne told Stamberg: "Susan, I am simply delighted. We have gotten more mileage, you and I, out of that recipe than almost anything I've printed."
1 small onion
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbs horseradish from a jar (red is a bit milder than white)
Grind the raw berries and onion together. (I use an old-fashioned meat grinder. I'm sure there's a setting on the food processor that will give you a chunky grind — not a puree.)
Add everything else and mix.
Put in a plastic container and freeze.
Several hours before serving, move it from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment to thaw. (It should still have some icy slivers left.)
The relish will be thick, creamy and shocking pink. (OK, Pepto-Bismol pink.)
Makes 1 1/2 pints.
My first mobile phone was a Nokia Xpress music.Some years back I had made a video clip with it. The clip was a recording of a scene from an interview with a young actor telecast on a channel. What I recorded was the bulge visible through the pants of the actor. I love bulge very much which makes me wild.I kept the clip and enjoyed the beauty of the bulge. But one day I accidentally deleted the video clip.And I was very disappointed about it. But now I want to retrieve it. I enquired about it at some mobile shops in the place where I live. Some said that once the video clip is deleted it could not be retrieved and others said that by using special software it can be retrieved. I asked a mobile technician about it. He said that though the video clip was deleted it will remain in the phone memory. But the problem is that Nokia Xpressmusic model was based on Java and therefore there is no software to retrieve the video clip.
I request the GBT members who have knowledge about the matter to help me to retrieve the deleted video clip.
Why do some members not have any post what so ever, but have been members for a long time and have lots of friends and a high star rating. Why is this?
