The Photography of Slava Mogutin
Slava Mogutin was born in Siberia in 1974. He worked as a photographer and reporter for dissident journals as the first openly gay contributor. His work was condemned for its 'open contempt for accepted norms', 'malicious hooliganism', 'sexual perversions', and for his attempt to marry his partner, the American artist, Robert Filippini. Facing a prison term, he fled to the US (naturalised in 2011) where he has gained a wide reputation for his monographs and photography.
The images in this album are taken mainly from two of his series: 'Stock Boyz', which superimposes photos of men on the financial pages of the NY Times, and 'Lost Boys'.
