Brief Encounters
The Photography of Herbert Tobias (1924-82), a German photographer who came to prominence in fashion publications in the 1950's. He then contributed to gay magazines, frequently attracting the attentions of the police. Homosexuality was still illegal, Berlin caught between the gayly liberated atmosphere of the 30's and the repressive strictures of the Nazi regime.
His B&W photographs, direct and unnerving, were often shot in brief encounters with his subjects. Tobias died of AIDS in 1982.

Tobias had a great eye, as do you.
