And the facts are that this virus has led to the excess deaths of hundreds of thousands of people that would not have died otherwise at this point in time. It has lead to hundreds of thousands of people in intensive care who would not have been there otherwise. It has affected millions of people, some being ill for many months who would not have otherwise been so. And personally, it has led to a man being a widow, and two teenage children being without their mother. 

Not slowing it down was the problem, vast numbers of people in intensive care diverting resources was the issue and still is. This is not the flu, this is a very nasty virus that is still evolving and changing and affecting people. I'm glad that you as a human you havnt seen what this has caused

This virus has behaved like no other we have seen before, and transmission needed to halted until vaccines and treatments could be developed. Sadly, especially in the USA this didn't happen. Many people had died and been seriously ill that could have been prevented. Health care systems have been overwhelmed and routine treatments have had to stop. Anyone who says that this isn't different or serious Is deluded and dangerous. Sadly for the USA, the president was one of these people 

If people followed the rules, if governments had acted quicker and more harshly, many many deaths and many many more extremely ill people could have been avoided. Some countries got it right, many others didn't, the UK being one of them 

On a side note pertaining to all of this...you know it use to be illegal to wear a mask in public.     The issue being that you could not identify people but on top of that that you could not identify people if they were committing a crime.    Just something to think about.    I wonder if I could wear a gas mask in public?     Lol.    Can you imagine?    However, I do think that those would work so maybe THAT is what we should do?    And hazmat suits.    Don't forget hazmat suits.     We could even have those in different colors to make people feel more comfortable with them!    Sparkles, anyone?    You know so the public would be more accepting of them and not question what's up.    You know.   Be submissive.    Don't you all care?    That's surely not too much too ask.    Of course you will be required to pay for your five hundred dollar suit but they will get it specially fit for you by you choosing between a whooping three different sizes M, L, and XL.    There will not be a small because those people need to grow up first before they can take on and handle the responsibility.    This will of course still make them vulnerable still but they can hold their breaths for long period of times until they have a growth spurt.    XXL?    What's that?

Your argument is losing steam Zany.  Your response to me below about Gov. Schwarzenegger was that this our response to this virus was never supposed to be destroying our economy. I agree with you wholeheartedly.  I even stated a few days ago below that we over-reacted by shutting the economy and schools down. We aren't in opposite corners here. 

Where your argument takes an ill-fated turn down the embankment is that you then start blasting mask usage as ineffective and that people shouldn't wear them.  Mask usage in major metropolitan areas is very high, and in turn infection rates in many cities have dropped back down to levels not seen since last summer. In contrast infection rates in rural areas where the "enlightened" refuse to let the government tell them to wear some damn mask is sky high. In turn the rural areas are taking our vaccines and filling up our city hospitals.  You realize that if people stopped whining, bitching, and moaning and just wore that piece of cloth or paper, or whatever around their mouth (AND NOSE) when they were out in public that we could have some normalcy.  Schools could open.  Evidence is everywhere that the masks help. My daughter's school has been hybrid since the school year began, in class 3 days a week and virtual two alternating weeks.  They've all worn masks and have been able to keep the school open.  Whereas the rural KS school I referenced below in a community of 6,000 where the locals revolted against the city council by forcing them to reverse the mask mandate, meant within a month the schools were locked up and everybody was home because everybody was sick.  Just wear the mask and the economy can recover.  We can have a somewhat normal existence.  It's the assholes NOT wearing masks who are destroying our economy.  Not the ones wearing them.  Your argument doesn't even make sense.

It will soon be time for the public to push back.    It is now known (and becoming known) what the facts are and in the weeks to come it is going to have be decided when in the next few months to stop wearing the masks and open the economy up!    Perhaps we won't have to wait that long?    Maybe NOW is the answer since there is no reason to wait and these facts are true!   Very great and positive news for all involved!    I'm SO excited that I just can't hide it!    :)

The next opportunity you get to see a box of those light blue face masks read the instructions on the box? It states quite clearly that they are NOT expected to be used for the purpose we are told to use them, they are to prevent air particles from pollution from entering the lungs Not for prevention of infection, I would upload a photo of the instructions but i have never sucsseded to upload anything on this site os have a look for yourselves.

I loathe political posts here on GBT so I won't read this one for fear of it being one in disguise, or becoming one, but I do want to opine. Been a long time since I've said anything in a blog. And I couldn't help myself and read Leo's remarks. --- A mask is NOT designed to catch a virus. Viruses vary greatly in size, with some being almost as large as a small bacteria, but most being hundreds or thousands of times smaller than an average bacteria. Hell, some viruses infect bacteria. --- A mask is designed to catch some (dare I say most?) bacteria, but even more than that, and it's time to listen up, people, a mask catches the vector that would transmit a virus. Again, for anyone in the cheap seats, a mask stops a virus from spreading by catching its much-larger vector. The vector is usually a tiny mucous or moisture droplet. --- Still, masks are generally an ineffective waste of time, effort, and money for virus transmission control. I'll stop now because if I say more, I'll get political.

On a side note.    Remember the measurement of social distance we are supposed to do to keep our selves safe?    26 feet.     Why 6 feet?    They just pulled that out of their arses because anything more than that makes everything that much more difficult than it already is!   The public would not believe the lies so easily as they have otherwise!    But you all don't know this because it has been IGNORED and is too inconvenient for the narrative of everything else to mindfuck and control the public!    

Zany is right about some things.I don’t know about ziplock bags or Islam-o fascist.Dr. Fauci did point out that masks aren't effective against Covid ( microdroplet’s )transmission unless it’s a N95 mask. Wearing masks does make you more aware of social distancing but it also has you putting your hands on your face for mask adjustments.The most vulnerable are the elderly and immunosuppressed people and they should be the first group to receive the vaccine.I would still wear a mask and be aware of my hand placement/hand washing  with social distancing.

The Covid rates in all the Nordic countries are especially low including the death rates? Why? Many years ago these countries realised that any country below the 44th Parrael was VERY deficient in Vitamin D, so they added it to basically everything, Flour, Beer, soda etc. They recommend at least 4.000 IU ( International Units) per day, especially during the winter months, I and my family have taken 6.000 i.U daily since we ere all young, NONE of us has colds or has ever suffered from Flu if you don't think this credible watch this video.
