I fear a sun storm or an e.m.p. concerning all of this. I have yet to see someone give a good answer if c.d.s, d.v.d.s, blur-ays, 4Ks, will survive those events in terms of them being used as backups for such things to happen.
the thing with mega is if you share stuff with people from your mega account then people report it and your account gets banned--i take and have two accounts--one pay for and store all my content there--not all but certain stuff--then i have a seperate account-- to chat/share with --i send stuff to this account and then if it gets banned my other account is safe--- other than that -- stuff is stored on blueray discs and put in case and put somewhere out of the house
You can put your files in a zip file and password protect it before uploading to your Google drive. The only you can see what's inside the files
Yeah, an external drive would be your best bet if you don't want to access them from other computers. Regular HHDs are super cheap. Even external SSD drives are getting affordable, though you probably don't need one. There are drawbacks to external drives - the potential to fail or become infected with a virus, blah, blah, blah...
As far as cloud drives go, check to make sure your share settings are set to private then only you can see them. On Google drive the default is set to private, only accessible to owner with Google user Id & password. From what I understand, Google photos is a different beast which is not private by default, therefore anyone can view see them. You can, however, go set the folders to private.
Hope this helps. Feel free to message me if need be.
You can buy external drives or large USB keys.
