So yesterday evening, before I went on the hookup, a friend of mine and I went out to eat at a pretty nice steak and burger place.  I was in the mood for a good steak while my buddy was in fajita mode.  I didn't feel like paying and arm and a leg for a steak though.  Looking over the menu steaks were going for about $20 which is what I expected, until I saw Chicken Fried Steak going for about $12.  That price was what I was looking for, so I gave it an order.  

However, there wasn't any picture of the Chicken Fried Steak, and I was really focusing in on the word steak in the name.  I was hungry, foo on me.  A little bit later the waitress came out with our orders and put my friends fajita down first.  When she put the steak down in front of me, my friend said I had the worst look of horror on my face that he had ever seen.  She placed down a thing that I didn't recognize, it was breaded and looked horrible.  I tentitively took up my fork, turned it upside down, and poked at it like you would trying to figure out if something was dead or not.  According to my friend, he had a hard time not busting out laughing at this point.  

The waitress was standing there also, watching my entire scene.  When I was done poking at the steak she asked me "Is this not what you wanted?"  I innocently told her no.  I really wanted a real steak, I just didn't want to pay the $20, and I didn't realize this is what it was going to be.  Since she also saw my look of initial horror, she apologized and said she would be right back.  I was mad at myself because now I was going to pay the $20 for a real steak PLUS the chicken fried one.  Boy had my plan backfired big time.  

When the waitress came back I was shocked because she was not empty handed.  She had with her a classic sirloin of 10oz, with mashed potatoes, and an ear of corn, as I had requested with the chicken friend.  And she gave it to me at the cost of the chicken friend.  OMG I was estatic!  Was this ever customer service or what?  Even if it was me that fucked up. 

Needless to say, she got my regular tip amount, plus the difference of the cost of the two steaks, and I let her manager know of the great service.  My friend was laughing at the situation all the way back to his apartment.  I'm sure he is not going to let me forget this for a LONG time.

Moral of the story: Make sure you know EXACTLY what it is you're ordering.  I doubt I'll get that kind of service the next time.
