I don't know why I even bother signing petitions on the Daily Kos. This particular one was about abolishing the death penalty. I send the rep. stuff, and he invariably sends me back nasty, bureaucratic,  dim-witted crap. P.S. I'ts been abolished in the state where I live, Michigan.

As you may know, capital punishment, commonly referred to as the death penalty, is legal in 31 states, as well as for some federal and military crimes. In my view, capital punishment serves as deterrent and must be reserved for the most egregious crimes. At this time, no legislation regarding capital punishment has been proposed. Should relevant legislation come before me in the U.S. House of Representatives, I will keep your views in mind.
