Du er ikke alene’ (You Are Not Alone)
I’ve posted about this wonderful film in the past, on a now-defunct blog of mine. ‘Du er ikke alene’ (You Are Not Alone) was considered ‘controversial’ upon it’s release; certainly it was seen that way, here in the US. It’s anything but controversial - ‘ahead of it’s time’ is a more apt description. It is one of my favourite love stories ever, and deserves to be seen, even now. Director Lasse Nielsen is, perhaps, one of the most underrated directors of all time. I consider this film to be a masterpiece, for many reasons, and I watch it often. The soundtrack, by ‘Sebastian’ is very appealing, and fits perfectly with the story. The film exudes late-70s. You’ll find that the clothing and hairstyles of the boy actors are wonderful, especially if you grew up in that era. The principal boy actors (Peter Bjerg, Anders Agensø) were very realistic, and did an excellent job. The adult cast was wonderful. This is one of those rare films that make me happy each time I see it. When Kim (actor Peter Bjerg) smiles, he lights up the screen. And my heart. I have had a crush on him for many years. I highly recommend that you buy this film and watch it. I bought the DVD, and even still have it on VHS, which I bought in 1984. You will fall in love with it the way I did, so many years ago.
