 The family cat a most humane-being. 

No offense intended to anyone, but two things always struck me as odd to animal lovers:

- selling burgers and brats at the humane society fundraisers

- not counting invertebrates as real animals (does size really count? he he)

my  occassional friend wasnt my cat sadly died this year aged 19 in the last months used to sit on a park bench in town and we watched the world pass by

It's about respect, honor and well, sacrifice which is really what love is all about. This is something that I know stirs all of us in some way or another. This is one of the most fascinating, deeply insightful, multi-faceted topics of what it means to "exist". To be trite and say otherwise based on a purely modernistic emotional or purely out modish utilitarian sense would be well... trite.

Horses are expensive, sometimes more than the poshest of cars and at times even more than airplanes. Here are ten costliest stallions ever sold

1. Plavius - 9.2 million dollars

He was bought by Godolphin Racing in 2006. It is said that he never lived up to the expectations that could justify such a high cost. He is nine years old now.

2. Jalil - 9.7 million dollars

Jalil was also bought by Godolphin Racing in 2006. He was two years old when he raced for the first time. His racing career was short as he retired in 2008

3. Snaafi Dancer - 10.2 million dollars

Aston Upthorpe Stud, a breeding company owned by the Emir of Dubai, bought Snaafi Dancer. Being a descendant of a stud horse Northern Dancer, the company bought him with high hopes but he was too slow to race, and had fertility problems making him unfit to even breed.

4. Meydan City - 11.7 million dollars

Aston Upthorpe Stud bought Meydan in 2016. He has raced seven times, but never won.

5. Seattle Dancer - 13.1 million dollars

Seattle Dancer was once known as the world's most expensive yearling. He won two races, but his racing career was not as successful as it was expected to be. He was profitable as a breeding horse, though. He died of a heart attack in 2007.

6. Palloubet d'Halong - 15 million dollars

He was known as one of the best show jumping horses in the world and was bought by Olympic Gold Medallist Jan Tops for this whopping price. Tops is the coach of the Qatar jump showing team and Palloubet was bought to compete for the country

7. The Green Monkey - 16 million dollars

The Green Monkey is another descendant of Northern Dancer like Snaafi Dancer. He retired from racing career without making a mark.

8. Totilas - 21 million dollars

Totilas is considered the most outstanding Dressage horse in the world, says The Richest website. He is the only Dressage horse to score above 90 in a competition. Sadly, reports say his current German owners subjected him animal abuse and cruelty.

9. Shareef Dancer - 40 million dollars

He is another horse bought by the Emir of Dubai in 1983. He had a modest racing career but shined as a sire.

10. Fusaichi Pegasus - 70 million dollars

He is the most expensive horse ever sold. His racing career was impressive, with nine starts, six wins and two losses. After retiring, he became the second best breeding horse after Shareef Dancer. He was bought for this ridiculously high amount by Irish breeder Coolmore Stud, the world's largest thoroughbred breeding operation. He is now in Kentucky.

sigh ...I guess it'll be me to say it . While I agree that how a person treats animals tells me a great deal about a person's heart and character , the issue isn't so simple for me .

It also tells me a great deal about a person's character to learn whether they eat them or not . I find cows easier to feel at ease with than people most often , or goats ..and while I prefer wilder less dependent creatures ( hence more of a cat than a dog person generally - though there are terriers i see eye to eye with lol ) feed the chipmunks and squirrels possums , birds ( especially birds being partial to birdsong and all that they teach ) - I've been here 5 years and the chipmunks are slowly warming to me , but remain undecided as yet . So , with some animals I'm vegan as a matter of heart and thank goodness I love soymilk - but indulge in cheese - struggling to give up the Wensleydale and Jarlsberg , but losing so far . So although it's grand that folks care deeply for their dogs , cats , donkeys , horses et. al . there's something to be said for loving ALL animals enough not to require their flesh for sustenance . Sigh .
