Interesting?
I had a great job starting Monday.
Friday afternoon at 4, the agency that had GOT me the permanent job got the news from the non-profit company: they'd changed their mind (after I was told I HAD the job!), because they had an internal employee who suddenly stepped up and wanted it.
That's just great.
Actually, on Wednesday I had TWO jobs that could be starting on Monday. Then, that's changed to ZERO. I had a definite temporary-assignment (via another agency) that was only for 4-6 weeks, to eliminate a backlog they had; then, Wednesday morning I interviewed for this more-lucrative, more-permanent opportunity, and was amazed I'd won it. So then, I said I couldn't do the one-month assignment, because I won the permanent job.
(Only, I was interviewed by a lady who told me Welcome, you can start Monday, then changed her damned mind, and in the last hour of the work-week too....)
Either 1) a consolation, or 2) to rub my nose in it: the agency who sent me to the non-profit will pay me for 8 hours on the next payroll, because of this ridiculous situation.
The flighty CEO, by the way, is at *****************. [I'm editing from the post I made to my "Facebook friends", who probably aren't, I don't know.] I would suggest anyone to run as far and as fast as you can from any "employment opportunities" they offer. (Or maybe it was just me, maybe I had a face she thought looked like it "wanted to be punched"?)
The whole goddamned world is laughing at me now. I guess I'm a nothing. Well, I've still got Plan Z. (As: I'm not a complete dummy; but I guess only I know that.)
i know its easy for me to say. don't get discouraged. i myself have gone through a similar experience 23 years ago.
there was a place i wanted to work for so bad. well they kept telling me no . i got a bit discouraged.. no way in hell was i going to take no for an answer. i was going about twice a week to check on my application. the last time they told me no was one day at 8 a.m. so it old them well see you at noon. went there at noon and they told me "jeff we don;t have anything yet". so i told them see you at 4. i did that for a month straight. every day at the same time. i was never a minute late. the owner was starting to get pissed at me twards the end.the last day i went in there he yelled at me. i laughed and told him ok see you at noon. i got home about ten minutes later, as soon as i got in the door the phone rang! "be in here for an interview at 2! click.
i got there for the interview and sat in the owners office with the biggest smile on my face. "i've never seen somebody as persistant as you jeff. ! do not come back here again until monday morning at 6 a.m! your hired! he started to laugh as i stuck out my hand.
sorry to bore you with that! its been going on 24 years ago i did that
the funny thing is. he sold the company a year after i started. on his last day he walked up to me and said " jeff one of my biggest regret while owning this company is not hiring you the first time you walked through the door".
i know it sounds a bit far fetched. it is a true story though. now i work for a company bigger than dow. its a world wide company. i work for a small branch in a small town called beaverton michigan. thanks for listening. do not get discouraged. if you want it bad enough you will get it my friend!
