One of the best documentaries I've seen

Blog Last Activity 8 years ago 751 views 30 comments

Its on netflix.  A lot of people tinker with dietary changes - they eat more protein or try the paleo diet, etc. but in almost all cases the people that are behind these things are citing this documentary, which in my opinion is pretty eye opening.  Its a pretty painless watch and, you never know, it could motivate some to make positive changes in their life.  Listen, don't listen to James, he's going to come in here and act like an effing moron in this thread and you just have to ignore everything he says.  Watch the documentary and do your own independent thought.

Ok, nobody is saying that you will get cancer, diabetes, and heart disease if you consume high levels of animal protein.  But doing so does increase your risk.  If for example, you consume two pieces of bacon per day, it increases your risk of these issues by 18%.  What this means is that if your risk were originally 14%, it might increase to 16% afterwards.  You can say to me that its worth it to you to consume this bacon and you'll tolerate this increase in risk and I'd agree with you that its your right to do so.  But when we look at epidemiological data on the large scale, its a significant increase that can not be ignored.  Now, consider that your risk is additive, so if you're also drinking half and half in your coffee and you eat red meat 5 times a week and chicken 5-7 days a week with very little green leafy veggies, then your risk might begin to approach 100%, which is what we see in so many cases and is why I'm advocating that people educate themselves on the issue.

When I was a boy in the 1970s it was the coming ice age.

Then when I was at High School it was the "greenhouse effect"

When I was 15 we were told "within 15 years" vast chunks of the world (such as the state of Florida) would be underwater.

Then when I was a young adult it was "global warming"

Then Al Bore joined the crusade to prove what a great humanitarian he was (and how foolish everyone was not to elect him President); within 10 years all the polar ice caps would melt.

Then when global warming fizzled out, Florida is still standing, and million dollar grants were being handed out (to illogically prove that midwest winters lasting 8 months is actually proof of global warming) they called it climate change.

AND NOTHING EVER COMES OF IT.

It is all total bullshit. And the more bullshit it becomes the more hysterical the science guys become - until the arrogant "the science is settled" claims.

And the people who started their careers talking about "the coming ice age" are the ones who pocketed the dough to talk about "global warming" - a 180 degree turn - and will next be whoring themselves about some other imaginary event "proven" by "science".

Throw all the science crap in the trash and get a copy of the Book of Common Prayer and the King James Bible; all you need to know is in those two books.

It's another of these fake science things. Everything was going fine for thousands of years then suddenly a bored upper middle class decadent asshole decides he hates the idea of somebody enjoying themselves - (especially some plumber or coal miner who gets paid more than him) - so invents a 'science' to prove enjoying eating meat is dangerous to their health.

Whether it be smoking, drinking, fornicating, dancing, drinking coffee, the weather, cars, children's toys, swimming, music - all are "dangers to your health" according to someone who hates you enjoying something (you should be as miserable as him. So there!)

They invent science things with silly names (which didn't hitherto exist) and no one can prove they don't exist, so it becomes 'true' due to constant repetition ....especially as equally misanthropic members of Congress start handing out huge grants to anyone prepared to write a report 'proving' it (ahem) exists so they can take away pleasures from "....those fucking knuckle dragging deplorables GODDAMMIT!!"

When the conservatives (ie: me!) start using logic, reason, commonsense and 10,000 years of history to challenge this nonsense we are demonized and - miraculously - the grifters, the con artists, the science scammers are about to confirm their newly invented "science" and "fake facts"; all you do is ...ummmmm.....go to their website where...ummmmm....the 'proof' exists.

Ok, i am a physician.  Throughout the years my colleagues in the medical field have treated atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, obesity, and diabetes after the fact.  They put people in metformin and insulin, do bypass surgery and put stents in people.  They never address the source of the problem.  Its like turning the water on in the bathroom sink and instead of turning it off, we as physicians go get more and more towels.  Well not me.  Call me a dick, call me an asshole, i'm here to raise awareness that the leading cause of these issues is an animal based diet high in animal proteins.  We can look back twenty years from now and you can say to yourself that Ajoel did the right thing by bringing it up.  I would otherwise be remiss.

For decades the tobacco industry denied any link between smoking and cancer and COPD.  Through contributions to elected officials they managed to confuse the public, namely conservatives, that it was a question of freedom and economics.  Republicans fought ardently to protect companies like Phillip Morris.  Now, looking back, its like a black stain on the party's history - something that a good conservative like myself regrets.  The exact same thing is going on now and people are responding to it the exact same way.  How many people must die before we come around as a society and educate the population about this?

This kills far more people per year than does smoking.

For those that might care, diets rich in animal protein contain IGF-3, which is a growth factor similar to IGF-1, which human beings need during childhood to grow, go through puberty, and become adults.  After adulthood, we no longer need this enzyme and in fact its counter productive because it promotes tissue and blood vessel growth that cause tumors.  Plant proteins do not have this.  If you look at human models where populations have eaten low amounts of animal proteins, such as in okinawa, the incidence of cancers in these people is very low - much lower than others that do.  Furthermore, the farm animals we consume are fed a constant diet of antibiotics because they're typically under siege with infection and illness.  This causes them to express a lot of micro-rna that activates inflammation to fight infection.  When we consume proteins from these animals, were consuming these micro-rna, which has been shown to cause chronic inflammation in human beings as well.  This chronic inflammation is cancergenic and leads to high rates of athlorosclerosis.  These are not good things...

@chillipepper - sorry, very little came from the WHO.  They had like 9 medical doctors on the show, which included endocrinologists and cardiologists, all of whom are well published in things such as lancet and JAMA who have collected their own data and done their own research on the topic, and this is their recommendation.  I can understand if you want to go with the moderation strategy - nobody is criticizing you if thats what you want.  Just do it understanding the risks - thats all i ask.

A vegan diet does not go against nature.  If humans are omnivores then why don't we share common characteristics with other omnivores, such as the black bear?  If you look at the black bear, it has much larger canines and its jaw only moves in one dimension - it can only open and close its jaw.  Humans, on the other hand, have teeth and jaw movement consistent with the great ape - flat teeth and the jaw moves in three dimensions, up/down, side to side, and front and back.  The great ape is primarily a consumer of vegetables, with periodic supplementation of insects, but this only represents a fraction of one percent of its diet.  Humans that consume a diet rich in animal proteins, like an omnivore, develop coronary artery disease and diabetes, but when you feed us foods that are consistent with our evolution, these disease processes tend go away.  I mean believe what you want, but vegan diet is MORE consistent with with humans should be eating.

Look, people know that smoking and drinking alcohol is bad, and yet they do it anyways. At least with these things they knew about their dangers and made choices as adults to consume these products nonetheless.  The average human being doesnt even know that meat consumption causes cancer and diabetes and that dairy is harmful.  People aren't aware that high protein diets promote aging diabetes and cancer.  At very least, i've started a discussion here to bring awareness to people.  You can eat whatever you want afaic.

There have been a lot of eye opening food based  on Netflix. The big companies have screwed over so many farmers with bully boy tactics. It's sad to see how many farmers in the US are treated by companies.

But if you want good health my advice is to go to www.infowarsstore.com - I swear by the following products which I take every day -

1. https://www.infowarsstore.com/super-male-vitality.html

2. https://www.infowarsstore.com/secret-12-vitamin-b12-2.html

3. https://www.infowarsstore.com/dna-force-plus.html

All these are the highest quality and fairly potent - no 'fillers' - and designed to improve the health of patriotic Americans like me.

Inforwarsstore.com also has a range of other cool stuff like air purifiers (I have mine constantly on when I'm in the house), toothpaste, distilled water.

But most importantly a range of survival products in case of Commie or Islamic invasion - 1 year supply of food, face masks in case of nuclear attack, body armor, tents, stoves, and other great products; all of which I have purchased 'just in case'.

Netflix documentaries are invariably anti-capitalism, anti-reason, anti-progress, anti-human propaganda and you shouldn't pay much attention to them Codybeans.

My diet consists of a soup course, a fish course, a meat course, dessert course all prepared by my cook; this good food, together with teen sex a couple of times a week and lots of walks along country roads, has made me perfectly healthy.

But as a warning to you - a vego diet will ruin your health; you won't sleep, you won't crap properly, you'll die at 53, simply because it goes against nature; stop being stupid and cook yourself a a steak and baked potato!
