Watching the opening of the movie on TV does not due it justice I've been told. To see the General come up those stairs, dressed like that and spread across a huge screen, overwhelms you.

the ironic part of the movie is george scott was picked because in part of his rough raspy voice. that was great for the role as it added to it's quality for sure. however...patton's real voice was much like...well, mike tyson or micheal jackson. perhaps not that bad but you get the point. he was actually very soft spoken
