When Islam takes over. That'll be the first thing to go away
The new law came in a great hurry, and (as mrbillboard pointed out) as kind of an accident triggered by a cheesy yellow press newspaper that conducted an interview with chancellor Merkel. Her response was SOMEWHAT 'softer' than her earlier statements on gay marriage. She had always been against it (and she still is), but somehow got muddled in answering the question. Parties opposite Merkel's CDU promptly jumped on that clumsy statement and made her act on it. As a result, the new law was agreed on swiftly and by far. It was LONG overdue though. Timboy said that there are ongoing lawsuits - and he's right - BUT I am very confident that the law will be coming into effect, and rightfully so. Consenting human beings of legal age MUST be able to get married legally - with all rights and duties - no matter what gender.
well if Germany is among 22 other countries in the civilized world to legalize gay marriage it should not take long for the Current government in power here is the USA to try to repeal the very same law. After all we still need to prove to the world that we would prefer to stay in the dark ages especially if Europe has made it legalize.
The federal president has signed the law, gay marriage is possible from October'17 in Germany......but the law suites are still ongoing, so lets see how long it lasts.
I'll believe it when the federal president has signed the law. Nevertheless I'm happy about another step to a modern Germany. Thumbs up.
For me it looks like a kind of political accident. Two strategies crash together, and the output is a decision that could have been made years ago. But as recently died former cancellor Kohl always said: It is important what´s coming out behind.
Great news..U disappoint me Merkal.
Just wait till the law comes active. This will not happen before October and i bet the conservatives will try a lawsuit to prohibit it.
By the way: Merkel voted against it, so did most members of their party (CDU - Christian Democratic Party) and all from the cooperating bavarian party (CSU - Christian Social Party) as far as i know.
My company boss freaked out, that's the reason i'm still not outed on work.
I want to get married with the right partner, i hope i can someday.
