It is beautiful there, and still not a tourist trap. A lot of fun things to do. My sister lives on top of the hill ovewrlooking the bay...beautiful views, and yes...that 80K is a thing of the past. I think theres is more like 500K, now.
I haven't been to Coos Bay since 1989. It was the place I wanted to retire to if not move earlier. Small community right on the ocean without the usual Oregon/Washington smell of pulp mills, but clean air; good seafood restaurants; Italian eateries, too; no traffic; few sirens; cool in the summer; not a tourist spot . . . bet it has changed and those homes with ocean views at $80K are likely a bit more expensive! Ah, well. I'm stuck where I am. It was 103 today and hotter yesterday. Gonna be a toasty summer and my A/C was installed in the late 70s! Getting old without money can be terribly inconvenient!
