Equal pay for equal work
I hear women, especially Democrat women who complain about the need to get paid the same as men. I have no idea about the corporate world but I see this time and again.
Right now I'm watching a road crew with a woman and about 8 or 10 men. Guess who the flag lady is? Oh, goodness, it appears I gave the answer away. I know every working person in the United States wants equal pay for equal work. But it has - it must- be equal work. I have no doubt this woman makes the same wage as the men. Too many bleeding hearts here in the States would stick up for her. This is unfair and unequal - to the female's advantage.
I work in a local seafood eatery. The women are never required to lift heavy stuff - I think any healthy woman can lift 50 pounds. But the servers are all paid the same, plus the women get bigger tips because - well- they're women.
Any thoughts?
in ny a flag person gets around $27.00 per hr. might be more or less either sex gets the same. that is a lot of money to get payed to stand there for 8hrs of work $216.00
I work construction and my family owns a construction company. We have 10 Women labors and 8 of the 10 do the jack hammering when the job calls for it and other extreme physical jobs. The other two are not physically able to do it and yes they do clean up, flagging when needed, and other jobs not requiring extreme physical requirements. Everyone is different, even some men can not do what other men do with physical labor. The two Women that work for us that are unable to do the extreme physical labor do the repair work on the equipment that help keeps the job moving and they do a good job at it. They get paid the same as the guys, and earn every dollar of it. Now this might not be the same for all companies but the Women who work for us do a great job and are at times able to handle the job stress and long hours better than some of the guys. I am proud to work with the Women I work with, I can count on them to do their job and show up to work every day.
I don't have an answer but I have a similar question. In Grand Slam tennis tournaments (French US and Australian Opens and Wimbledon), men must win 3 of 5 sets per match which is grueling. The women must only win 2 out of 3. And they earn the same prize winnings as the men.
