Where is fusion? No future for fusion?
The reason that solar power has finally become a practicable solution to the world's energy needs is because the technology to build massive battery storage has developed at an affordable level. Tesla is building a 15 million square foot gigafactory to produce these batteries in Nevada, and Tesla's CEO Elon Musk says that 100 such plants could solve all of the world's energy requirements. If governments would only take on the power of the fossil fuel industry, and enact policies that favor the development of solar, we could see a solution in the near future. For more information, watch Leonardo DiCaprio's documentary, "Before the Flood."
I have always been a fan of green energy. In 1975 I built 2 windmills to generate electricity as a school project. This year I bought my first solar kit, it's a small one but I hope to expand on it. The town where I live now has a solar farm and I'm seeing more solar panels on homes in the area. Even the big oil companies are starting to invest (quietly) in clean energy. I just hope they will ramp up the change-over and stop milking profits from fossil fuels, the use of which is poisoning our planet.
Solar power has really come into its own the past year.
