Why the Penis doesn't have a Bone?
In the male body, the penis has a very important role.It is not just an outlet for waste to be discharged as urine.Rather what makes it important is its role in sex and procreation.But this all-important organ has the absence of another important factor which is one of the building blocks of the human body.And that missing factor is the bone.Why the penis doesn't have a bone? The team of researchers from the University College of London has come up with some findings in their effort to answer this question.In explaining the absence of bone in the penis, the researchers first consider the case of primates and mammals.Primates and mammals, the researchers say, had the penis bone.The baculum or penis bone first evolved in mammals between 145 and 95 million years ago, observe the researchers.The researchers find a link between the prolonged penetration during sex and the presence of baculum in the course of primate evolution.The study says that longer penetration caused the primates and carnivores to have a longer baculum.It attributes the high level of sexual competition between the males to longer bacula in primates.After tracing the presence of baculum in primates and mammals the study concludes that the humans were monogamous and do not compete for a partner which is why penis has not a bone.
