Lol! :) Ooops! I think that is in this speech! I don't have time to watch it at the moment though! Sorry!
"We will wash our wheels and vehicles with their intestines!!!". I think that is what he said, eh? Crazy but thankfully on our side! That speech is beyond amazing and totally true too! You all should here it!
The reason the wars by the U.S. have been lost for sixty years is because of Democrats and in some cases Republicans as well as crooked lawyers. Those wars were fault to provide peace and freedom. Not to enslave anyone or commit genocide. No matter what the mainstream media or educational institutions may try to tell you. Life is better now for more people than ever before. And it sure wasn't because of over reaching governments, tyrants, or cults of personalities. When will freedom loving capitalists stand up against those who support too many laws?!
I like the movie Patton. I use to watch it with my Mom every year when it was on during Memorial Day.
I was going to bed last night early and this movie came on. Needless to say I stayed up and watched it. George C Scott won a Oscar for his performance. The opening speech he gives is unbelievable.
"I want you to remember, that no bastard ever won war for dying for his country. You won it by making the other dumb bastard die for his country."
"If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we must live through all time, or die by suicide." -- Abraham Lincoln 1838
Yes, the "peace" of the mass grave. The last thing America or the world needs is more war. The militarists are always trying to convince us that "if you want peace, prepare for war." Well, over the last 70 years, since the end of the Second World War, America's last "good war," the United States has spent uncountable tens of trillions of dollars on war, and what have we got to show for all that? More war, nearly continuous war, with more dead heroes filling up flag-draped coffins, more young lives with broken bodies, minds, and spirits, more widows and orphans, more grieving loved ones, more innocent blood on our collectively bloody hands, and in case you haven't noticed--MORE ENEMIES throughout an increasingly dangerous world, determined to inflict their vengeance upon us even at the cost of suicide. In addition, the wealthiest nation in history can't provide a decent standard of living for millions of its own citizens. Its unable to guarantee a quality education or universal health care, services that taxpayers in other first world countries regard as an essential part of their basic human rights. America's underfunded infrastructure is crumbling. In over 300 communities nationwide, we're unable to even provide safe drinking water. And increasingly, in the name of "security," the instruments and techniques of global militarization are being brought home throughout the country, robbing us of Constitutionally-guaranteed liberties and privacy. WHY? Because war is a business, the most highly profitable growth industry in the world. More accurately, in the words of the late, great Marine General Smedley Butler, "war is a racket." This war racket is the mafia enforcer behind the corporate plundering of the planet, the immiseration of its people, and the destruction of its ecology. Yet throughout our history, there have been alarms from intelligent, patriotic voices of sanity. James Madison, the "Father of the Constitution," warned us in the Federalist Papers that:
"Of all the enemies of true liberty, war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debt and taxes; and armies and debts and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manner and of morals, engendered in both. NO NATION CAN PRESERVE ITS FREEDOM IN THE MIDST OF CONTINUAL WARFARE."
In 1946, Charles Beard, one of America's greatest historians, saw the rapidly developing pattern of militarism, and characterized it as "perpetual war for perpetual peace." President Eisenhower, who had been a five-star General during the Second World War, warned us against "the military-industrial complex" in his farewell address to the nation in 1961. And yet each year the military budget grows larger, though never large enough to satisfy the bloodthirsty war hawks and their corporate sponsors. Only the rationalizations for this insane profligacy change, from fighting communism, to combatting illegal narcotics syndicates, and now to the open-ended, "clash of civilizations," called the global war on terrorism. How far into the depths of moral, physical, and financial bankruptcy must we descend before our citizenry awakens to the dangerous reality of rampant militarism? The future of the world demands a new paradigm. If you want peace, prepare for peace.
