VLC Media Player for me. The problem with videos playing has nothing to do with the OS imho.
VLC Media Player always works for damn near everything :)

Couldn't agree more with VLC never had a problem with it and it plays anything you can throw at it
I haven't switched to Windows 10 yet, but I've used vlc media player for years and been very happy with it, as it plays every format I need. I just checked their website and they do have a version for Windows 10.
