I prefer the one on the right with the black field. All you see is the beauty of the model without the eye being distracted by background clutter.

I like the painting because it represents the IDEAL, and will never change. The one on the right is one that will change over time and no longer be a touch-stone of Truth.

I like the real painting mostly because it's more colorful and the accessories, like the robe he's sitting on and the background make it more interesting.
