From what I've heard, in Jonathan's case, it was not the sexual contact he'd had in his earlier years, but both the "outing" of his activities plus the fact as he'd reached adulthood, and no one wanted him in their films any longer (as with the majority of other kid stars), so his depression deepened and he could not become enthusiastic about doing anything else with his life but to end it.

HIs reaction was even more surprising as he advised me in hushed tones that, yes, he was sexually involved with this adult star, enjoyed it but for the man's size when he was entered, describing in detail the beefy member and the pride the kid took in how often and how fast he could satisfy his idol, and the appreciation and love he felt for the gifts and attention. Flabbergasted is a word seldom used now days, but this outwardly innocent 15 year old I wanted to bed so damned bad, was happily involved with a popular rich guy 30-some years his senior, and damned if I didn't run into him many years later only to find they were still together. Boys are attracted to men despite the taboos and social conditioning. I hope I've explained this well, 'cause I am not in favor of older guys preying on youngsters, and feel serial predators should be locked up, at least. There are also female predators who "feast" on pubescent and pre-pubescent boys, but rarely is that made public.

Jonathan Brandis should never have left us so early. I wish to God he'd had someone to talk with, and if he did, someone who would have recognized the signs and done something about it. There are too many "kids" offing themselves because of depression, bullying and becoming ostracized . . . and that has got to stop! Growing up in every era has its difficulties, but today, I wouldn't want to be a kid again. Parents are too self-involved and too busy to listen; teachers too burdened and too afraid of their own students; authorities who don't really give a crap, and politicians who are so self absorbed they are in favor of whatever cause is the current hot subject to stay in office; our kids are ignored and taught by example.
