The is a sound sensitive vibrating egg you can buy that goes by the name ibod. you could connect it to your ipod or have it listen. the egg vibrates to the music. I believe he has it set to just to any loud noise like the tip sound.

He seems to be using an electric therapy device to stimulate his muscles. Don't know how he rigged it to respond to tips, maybe he hits the control himself when he gets a tip. The device causes muscle contractions by delivering electric pulses. You can get these fairly cheap in the pain control area of your favorite store. I got mine at Walmart, it is made by Omron and called Electrotherapy.
You can find better videos on here by searching "e-stim" or "electro". Those searches will show a variety of different types of devices. I saw a video on GBT a while back where 2 guys had a 3rd guy hooked up but not sure how to find it now.
