The really sad thing is, at least in the song is that when the dad realizes his mistake as his son gets older it's the son who does not have time for the dad.

it's been 4 years since i have seen or heard from my dad. i do love that song. i hope someday i can be a dad and do it right!

I've always loved that song too. Also "Wild World" by Cat Stevens. I'm not so sure I am thrilled of him becoming Yusof Islam now though.

@superralfy i heard that song on the radio just today its a song by harry chapin an american folk singer and his only number one hit song its one of the few songs that gives me goose pimples and makes me sort of emotional - giles

He did't do this because he lived for the American dream which was to become rich and famous, and he was gettig close to doing it too. He worked 2 jobs to support his family which was a wife, a son, and a daughter. He wasn't there for his wife and daugher either, for the same reason.
