<p>Being a man is something we have all heard at some time in our lives and even a few guys reading this will will know that Being a Man in that sense means something completely different to you than what that phrase implies.I cant even begin to describe the toll that the concept of Musculinity has taken on some lives.And its felt everywhere so its time to make changes starting within ourselves.</p>

I lost my Dad at 7 And had to go to school and wear a Mask just to show i was strong and not a baby.All those feeling and the hurt i just burried deep because the teachers told me to smile and cheer up.
All i wanted was just somebody to listen to me and let me grieve for my Daddy.All i wanted was just to be weak for a while but to me i never got that chance.If i was told it was ok to cry, then that would have made a big difference and im sure i would be a stronger Adult today .

I'm one who hates "jockism" the stereotype that all bois /men must be a macho kind of guy, playing sports etc. I was bullied and made to feel inferior by the high school jocks..it left such an impact on me today I hate sports.

I have observed over the years that some men will define manliness or masculinity in terms that will both include themselves and allow them to exclude others. It's a sign that they have a fundamental sense of insecurity about their own identity and this is how it is manifested. They feel better about themselves by demeaning and devaluing others. That's particularly true with a lot of straight men in how they regard gay men as unmanly. Personally, I never feel more manly than when I'm laying face down in a bed, naked with my legs spread, and a naked guy is laying on top of me with his cock shoved all the way up inside me. As far as masks, we all wear masks. It is necessary to wear masks just to get by in the world. We need to be able to present ourselves to the world in a socially acceptable way if for no other reason than to support ourselves financially. I need to put food on my table, a roof over my head, gas in my car and anal lube by my bed. We wear a mask because it's in our own self interest to do so. And it is not disingenuous to do so. My mask does not say that I am gay nor does it deny it. My mask simply keeps my private affairs private. And when I'm around my own kind, read other gay males, the mask comes off.

For years I was the subject of torment. I didn't really have a mentor to turn to so I sat down one night and had a very good think about the future. Was I going to carry on being a target, or do something about it?. I stand up for myself now and face fears head on... I won't say it's been easy, but life is more bearable now. Good topic, Davey... thank you for sharing it :)
