Without reading any other replies, I will give my answer to the question "are gay people sinners". YES! ALL people are sinners! Any "good Christian" knows that.

aka chrishanse1996, spawn1996 and still tried to stir up shit then. I don't like criticizing one's religion or politics, because those two ingredients make up what we are. I prefer to respect one's choice and leave it be. Criticize those, and you criticize the individual. All I have to say is who wrote these holy books? Men. Not God, but human beings. The biggest problem with religion is it can be twisted and misinterpreted as it has so many times through history. Wars have been fought over it. Not because the scriptures say so, because those that think they are high on the ecclesiastical ladder have interpreted it to say so, and his followers believe him. So, is it a mortal sin? Who says so? Some medieval scholar that helped write the Bible? Remember that a lot of religious writing came at a time of religious upheaval, and so there was a lot of vying for control over their parishners. You had the rise of Islam, the Reformation that broke apart Catholicism and Protestantism. What is hell? My thought on that is it was a way of keeping Christians tied to their faith so they would not go elsewhere, such as Islam, Judiasm, etc. After all, if you stay a Christian you wont go to hell. Back in medieval times the thought of going to hell or in purgatory was enough to scare them to death and not wander off in the arms of another religion. Fear is a good weapon on the uneducated. And it worked. A sin? What is a sin is something that tries to control you from being yourself.

This would be a good time for everyone to reread Anjinsan's comments on the subject posted on 2013-07-14. I like to think of myself as fairly articulate but I honestly don't think I could have said it any better.

I don’t speak much on blogs but here it goes. The different religions and the associated books written in their name such as the bible are manmade. If you think these books are the absolute truth so be it but I don’t and don’t try to convince me they are. I believe they were written to perhaps teach right from wrong. I mean this literally as in “don’t steal”, “don’t kill”, “don’t cheat on the one you love and the one that loves you”. As to how it relates to personal choices follow your heart and conscience. If a choice you make makes you happy and no one gets hurt then follow your heart. I went to catholic school all my life and hated everyday of it. The catholic priest has hurt more kids than any other organization but yet they continue to tell us how we should act and live, the number of kids affected just keeps going up and then they try to cover it up. I do not go to church now but I do follow my heart and always try to treat others how I would like to be treated.

Follow your heart not a book written by people that had or have an agenda. I find this ironic but let the ones without sin throw the first stone. If your parents believe they a perfect and without sin reality is they are wrong. For this to be so, a person would have to be perfect. If you’re human you’re not perfect. Religion is a choice, not a requirement.
I have to caution you though; parents with very strong convictions are sometime very difficult to deal with. If you want to reach out or have questions about what I said you can always message me.

there is enough supportive answers here to show most don't give a dam about religions or those who thump the bible/Quran teachings...I've said it before.. " the two greatest scourges to befall mankind, are Religion and Politics...DO NOT confuse them with Spirituality and Government...they are not the same!. be you fuck those that don't accept you for what YOU are...THEY are the problem not you!.. when religions teach you to hate or kill in their name..they are listening to the wrong people!

To be honest I don't give a flying fuck what the church or anyone else thinks about me being gay, it's what I think myself, I was born this way, Nature created me this way and nature had been deciding this sort of thing millions of years before the bible was even written.

i believe the bible says we are all sinners. you don't get to pick and choose which ones to chastise and which ones to ignore ( divorce for example). i believe it also says we are no to judge each other based on who sins the most or least. love your neighbor, as jesus did the prostitute and the tax collector. it will be a great discussion with jesus when i see him.

You have to believe in sin to be a sinner, so if you believe it is wrong to be queer, then you're a sinner...if you're okay with your sexuality, then perhaps the dogma your parents subscribe to is in error...peace

All sin is mortal, meaning by and in mortals. But why seek answers here. I believe God loves me and you. He sent someone to deal with ALL sin. You know how to pray? Ask Him, not fellow mortals ;) Aye, be born again by baptism, but let no church judge you. An old lady once look at me once after I come out and in church GLARE at me like her eyes on fire, so I say out loud, "What?! Your sins are better than mine?" A lot of muffle laughter in God's house that day! My brother, be of good cheer, cos Christ overcome this world!
