whats an acceptable age gap in a relationship?

I personally don't think it matters, but society still lives largely in a world of pre determined ideals and beliefs. Answers?

It depends on the two people. If either of them feels uncomfortable with the other person because of his age, then it won't work. If both could care less about the age difference, regardless of how great it might be, they can still have a great relationship.

Of course, the gap means different things at different times, too. An age gap of 9-years, for example, would be just a bit extreme if one partner is 19 and the other 10, but, if one partner is in his 50s, then a 9-year gap probably wouldn't be a big deal. The people involved make a huge difference, as well...I've known some very mature teenagers, and some 30-year old guys who shouldn't be allowed outside without a keeper!

There is actually an equation that has been published to determine the lowest age you should date and the highest age you should date:

Low end of range: ½ (your age) 7 So for me at 60, the answer is 37
High end of range: (your age) – 7, x 2 and for me at the high end it would be 106

when i married debbie we were 10 years apart..18(her) and 28(me)...after 2 1/2 years she wanted out...age .i believe. had something to do with it..you should get some runnin around under yer belt before you settle down..forever lasts a long time...

I think that's up to the people in the relationship. I do believe that they should both be at an age capable of consent, but I suppose that goes without saying. The major thing society misinterprets is the motives of the people in the relationship. As long as the two individuals are happy and in it for the same reasons, it shouldn't matter.

well i am in a relationship and there is only 1 year difference betweeen us. personally i wouldnt wanna date a guy that is much older than me anyway. thats just my opinion. i am sure younger and older relationship works but its not for me.
