Some Irish beauty to warm your day

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Friendship firecracker to anyone who can name the poet. Have a beautiful weekend and I love all of you very much,

Joel

Now admit it those who, like me, had to look it up on Wikipedia and well done to those who did not have to...there are one or two interesting blogs to be found on google discussing what he was trying to say...
was his main dream the return of his love by the recipient in which case it is just a (selfish) plea against rejection or is he talking of being allowed to keep his other dreams (eg. of health, children, wealth etc.) however unrealistic the recipient thinks they may be if his love is returned?

The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying sun.
The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one:
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done.
