i just can't imagine being this way..like y'all talk here. don't get me wrong, i see nothing wrong at all with a relationship if that is what sum1 wants. i see all kinds of people in relationships. i just wonder... what is the purpose of it? is it sex? i don't think so... is it additional income? maybe... is it cuz people think this is just what we should do? maybe.... i guess each person has their own reasons. st8, same sex.. whatever.. it's a part of humanity i find very interesting from a distance of course. and btw...... does any1 still "date"? i mean..with all the internet communication..is there a need to "go out"? i'm just trying to understand this a bit more.. how it works.
i realize how this may sound to any1. wow, this guy is a freak!! maybe so. i just chose to be independent and leave emotions aside. i just can't see myself anything more than a friend os sum1.. lols

My partner and myself have been together 25 years which I think is huge achievement for any relationship, straight or gay. Relationships change over time and you both need to adapt but if you can accept that and keep talking to each other then you have a very good chance. Interesting things sex and love. The sex often gets less but the love grows. Sex is the primal instinct in you but the love is more the emotional and spiritual side of life. I think you know when you find your true soul mate but in the mean time, enjoy yourself along the way!

I would echo Stees comments below. And perhaps add a few thoughts of my own (duh, like I never have an opinion). Remember that right now you are in the the We, the we is made up of two me's. Each of you unique in your own way. Honor the yourself and your partner by letting them be themselves. You cannot change a person, however we change as time goes on....honor the change...but don't try to create it. Always say what you mean and feel....and mean and feel what you say...be honest. Never go to bed angry...I know its a cliche..but usually you wake up in the morning not sure why you were so pissed off...Always remember why you fell in love with this person....because that is still there..we just sometimes forget to honor it and remember it....I hope that you will find a long and happy life together...growing older and more in love as the years go by....

The most important things in a relationship are communication, respect and acceptance which in itself encompasses all the other things. Communication your partner does not have a crystal ball if you dont tell him the things you like or dont like how will he ever know. Respect that you are 2 different people with different likes and dislikes that either person may not find as appealing as the other but respect your partner does. Acceptance life people and things are not perfect we all come with our own idiosyncrosies and imperfections that we have to accept in the other person. Lastly never go to sleep angry with your partner.

I reckon the only thing that breaks up relationships is selfishness. When peeps say to me their relationship broke up "because he was _____ " its usually something selfish and kinda trivial in the scheme of things. For instance "because he liked playing with his train set" - well so what? why shuld one partner selfishly stop the other from doin that?

If u r goin to stop yr partner from having friends u dont like, playin with model trains, eating junk food, smoking, expressin an opinion u dont like etc etc all under the usual selfish line about "if u loved an respected me you will stop it" (oh please!) then dont complain when he departs into the sunset.

I also reckon u have to be pretty dumb not to spot a selfish person at 100 paces - the guy who never makes eye contact, the guy who moans, the guy who wants to 'change' you, the guy who has to tell u what a good person he is, the guy who criticises, the guy who cares bout clothes, or gadgets or other shallow things, the guy who never does anythig particularly nice for others (because it is not all bout him), the guy who does exactly what he wants, the guy who never asks how u r, the guy who never shows consideration for u, the guy with oceans of self pity - these peeps are so obvious an to be avoided like the plague, no matter how good looking they are haha

So that is my opinon on it.

it could not be better after 30 months together..even tho there is 9 years age diff..i am the older..we work..sometimes sauna/shower and sleep together...and each morning when you wake..it's just perfect to start the day..i am the boss..he is 1 of about 16 staff that take my orders..with no hard feelings...well maybe still 1 HARD feeling from time to time...

our relationship is great. no doubt we face some challenges and tension, but it is part of sharing life together. we love each other dearly and made commitments to each other 4 years ago with rings that we would stay committed to each other and grow old together and always respect each other. my biggest challenge is the lust to want more, to have sex with others, groups...all the stereotypical gay stuff that destroys relationships and makes whores out of young men. i fight this battle almost daily and am winning for 6 years now. still it is there...not making love with another, just raw sex for no other reason than to have sex. im confident i will win over this battle as i mature. .
