Remember one thing guys. the person who may need help may be your mother or other family or friends. If it does not start with you by helping people then it does not start at all.

well said tolead. I still stop and help people who are stranded. I was riding my MC in the arizona desert on time when I passed a women about 30. there were 3 small children standing outside the car. I knew it was 40 miles back to town and about 110 outside. As i went by I stopped turned around and went back. I had changed her tire and taught the boys how to help the next time it may happen. She tried to give me 20 bucks I refused and told her the next time you see someone who needs help its your turn to help.

I believe you have a moral obligation to help. Put yourself in their place, would you want help. If you can help you must help, but be careful. Make sure you know how to help. Take advantage of your local YMCA or the RED Cross Life saving course. Get certified! That way if you do see someone needing CPR you know what you are doing. If you see a mugging call 911 unless you have the physical training to step in. As a socitey we are much to self centered Good Deeds are not dead!

I think the world has changed as far as Strangers helping others is concerned.
But i still believe that there are still many people out there that would stop
to lend a hand. Look how many Fireman and police died in 9/11 and they
were rushing to save strangers.Here is a video i saw months ago which you may
remember about a little girl being ignored by 18 people.We asked ourselfs that
day,HOW could we as Human beings just walk past a fellow human being.

Being the slightly more senior person here, I remember the time when most anyone would stop to help a stranger in need. I hold that as a value that most not be forgotten. While I would rather not put myself at risk, when I see a person in need, I react to help. Whether it is just a kind word, an intervention into a bad situation, covering the tab when someone is short at the grocers...it is what makes us human...and I prefer to be human...

there was a kid down the road from me who i use to talk to. he seemed to look up to me. i started noticing bruises on his arms and legs and id ask him were he got them from and he used to just say either he fell or was in a fight. then he started getting black eyes and he used to say he ran into a door or a locker at school. but id here him telling people different thigns that happened. i was only 15 at the time and had enough shit on my plate and he was 10. but i sat him down one day and asked him whats been happening to you and he was just acting like it was nothing. so i was thinking his dad is abusing him. everytime id see his father id give him a dirty look. one day i was walking passed his house aand looked in the window i seen him on the ground and his mother kicking him. i was shocked i couldnt believe my eyes. so i walked in told her to fuck off and walked out with him. i hid him at my house for a few hours. and told my parents what had happened. they just said that i shoudlnt get involved and to bring him back. so i did but i gave out to his mam. but i was depressed for days trying to decide weather i should ring child services or not. if i did this might upset him and he would feel id betrayed him. or if i dont this continues....in the end i rang them. i went to the house with them tthe day they toookk him and told him sorry and he said he never wants to speka to me again and he taught i was his friend! i fell into a blackhole of depression. i already had alot to deal with myself. coming to terms with being abused, my dads death etc. but 2 years later i get a message on facebook from him telling me thanks and that i did the right think and made his life better. i looked at his facebook and his photos, now hes just a happy care free boy. and i caused it. im on top of the world atm :)

I know I sound like A fool when I say this, I am a sucker for punishment, but I love to help people, I maybe sarcastic at times and can be well me, but I will help anyone a hitch hiker, I even helped one of my customers one time in the store i worked at and have them $30 dollars cause they were short and they said they would pay it back. Well knowing some people they wont, well dontcha know it, three hours later they came back and payed me back. And I felt so good that I did that too. So Idc who you are, I would help anyone if they needed it, and if they screw me over, well thats on them cause I am a good person.

for me the right time to step in is the second u see that a person needs help (tho i do agree with axxo21 that if it's a sketchy situation that could put u in harms way best avoid it). but helping a person in need is going to do nothing more than take up some time or slightly inconvenience u. so why not help? but i'm a little selfish with it cause i live for the thank yous and the smiles lol

I think what Danny said is true. I depends on the situation. If you help someone which might put you life in danger then no I would not help a stranger but it to help and old lady carry a bag to her car then that fine. However like Danny said giving someone a ride is something I would not do since there is no way out if he pull a gun or a knife to you.

I would hope that we are not so far gone that we dont stop to help people that need it. Depending on the situation i would do what I can. Now if a stranger is walking in the rain, would I stop and give them a ride? I would have to say no. Too many bad things could happen with that one. I used to see all kinds of people come into my job, and I would ask them if they needed help finding anything and mostly all of them would say thank you and would be happy. Those who werent might have been having a bad day. I try to take that into account when helping people. The could be having a bad day or week or month. If it were another scenario other than the car thing, I would say yes, I would help them.
