how meany of you have "partners" or is married to a man currently? is it hard to have them around for family events? and dose being ga and finding another man get easier with time?

Me and James have been together 10 1/2years and been engaged since april...we go to each others families get togethers, have them to our home, am a "step dad" to his 2 daughters...in our eyes we are a regular couple/family and don' t seem any different than a hetero family.

My partner and I have attended family events since they day we met. My first event was his family's Easter celebration. 100 Polish Catholic people to meet for an only child protestant. It was overwhelming. Over the years we have been accepted as a couple and part of the family. But it did take time. We will celebrate 30 years together this year.

I have a young partner...although I am confident he would be accepted at close family events (probably more readily than a new female partner 40 years younger would be!) one has to think of "in-laws" etc... so not wanting to cause awkwardness or friction, we agree that it is better not to stubbornly insist he joins in
